Beach Beckoning
Beach Beckoning
Late on a day in June, they all must have retreated to the cafes, leaving the beach to be captured, with some colourful cars decorating the fringe. I love the way the waves break on the sand – it reminds me of lace. You can also see the seaweed being pulled back and forth by the water. This is one of my favourites and has been featured recently in Forty South Magazine (Winter 2024) and the Art Trails Tasmania exhibition at Fitzpatrick’s Inn.

Forty South Magazine has gone to print with my images, and given me a glowing tribute: "There are three areas of Forty South where photographers of Tasmania elbow aside writers about Tasmania: the cover, our Portfolio feature, and our Parting shot column on the inside back page. Never before has one photographer occupied all three areas in one issue of the magazine. Meet the work of Steve Barnes, and turn to pages 45 and 96 to see more about that work, and about him."

Franklin Folk Club had a tribute to Mick Flanagan last Saturday night, 17th June 2023. It was held at the sumptuous Franklin Palais Theatre and included the Folk Dance portrayed in this video. It was a lot of fun! Steve Barnes also captured many photographs and video footage of two other entertainers which will be shared later.
